What's The Big Picture?
The big picture came into focus when, Rakeda L. Ervin & Trinket T. Lewis, two film school classmates became roommates, and later media professionals, teachers, and now co-founders of GTBP.
We saw an opportunity to impact education through movies. As creators and educators, our passion for film motivated us to create a unique learning program to engage and embolden youth. We set out to change education and views of the world with a lens on authentic characters and universal themes. We are inspired to see educators successfully cultivate empathy, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the human experience in learners.
Our project based curriculum and professional development are appropriate for grades 6 -12 and aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Common Core Standards. GTBP is ideal for community organizations, encouraging understanding of people from all walks of life and across the world. Our program has proven to increase engagement through social - emotional learning, exploring some of the most crucial topics that youth face today.
